Ep 51 | Ask the Expert: Joselyn Martinez, Bookkeeper Lactation Business Coaching with Annie and Leah

“I wanted to help small business owners. I wanted to make a difference. I wanted to help them understand their books.”

—  Joselyn Martinez

Is hiring a bookkeeper worth the expense?

 Definitely!

While very small businesses may be able to get away with doing their own bookkeeping, once your company starts to grow, it’s a good idea to bring in a professional.

Why? Because you don’t know what you don’t know.

A skilled bookkeeper not only inputs your transactions, but can help you cut costs, improve cashflow, and unlock opportunities for growth.

A bookkeeper with experience in your industry will know the regulations and standards that need to be followed and will actually be able to save you money at tax time. Your tax accountant will charge you a lot of money to fix inaccurate books – often more than it would cost to hire a part-time bookkeeper!

Bookkeeper Joselyn Martinez is a self-proclaimed numbers nerd. Four years ago, she started her own company, Balance Financial Solutions, which is dedicated to supporting small businesses and helping them build financial success.

As Joselyn points out, an ongoing relationship with a talented bookkeeper is invaluable.

Once you’ve worked with your bookkeeper for a while, they’ll understand your business and be able to pinpoint money leaks and unnecessary expenses!

“The better my books are, the less I’m going to pay on taxes. I don’t want to miss anything. I don’t want anyone else to have any money that’s supposed to be mine.”
