Ep 53 | Intentional Time Off with Brandie Mitchell RN, NC-BC Lactation Business Coaching with Annie and Leah

“There are principles that can guide us in a different way of living our lives that is actually so much more sustainable and so much more life-giving.”

—  Brandie Mitchell

On a scale of 1 to 10, how balanced is your lifestyle?

Holistic Nurse Coach Brandie Mitchell is back on the show to chat about something that affects all business owners — the need for intentional rest.

Small business owners are at especially high risk for burnout, as we often take on multiple roles and feel we need to be driving our businesses forward all the time. But constant productivity actually hurts us in the long run. When we reach the point of burnout, we no longer perform at our best, and it can take weeks (or longer!) to fully recover.

Creating space for rest is particularly important when so many of us are working from home and the lines between work and life have become even more blurred.

“I have experienced so much benefit in my life, in my health, in my business, by intentionally building in rest, specifically through practicing something that I call cyclical living,” Brandie explains.

She looks to natural and energetic cycles as inspiration for creating a way of life that’s heathier, more productive, and more sustainable. Over the last few years, Brandie has found that cyclical living has improved the way she shows up in her business, as well as her overall satisfaction with her life.

Now, it’s your turn!

Listen now to discover:‌ ‌

  • How to develop your own daily, monthly, or seasonal cycles that tap into your body’s energetic needs
  • The importance of setting boundaries during quarantine — and the science behind the benefits
  • Why having reality TV on in the background while writing emails doesn’t count as real rest!
